Twin quilt not such a "snap" of a project

Big bunches of fabric scrunched and stuffed through the armhole of my home sewing machine is not as fun as one imagines it might be inside thier heads.  I need a larger space in there to work. Maybe its just me but it actually drove me a bit nuts yesterday trying to maneuver so I'm thinking it's time to revert to smaller quilts and rag quilts for now after this one is finished with the binding.

To go along with the post from a couple of days ago, I'd layed the pieces out on the dining room floor and switched them until I was happy.  I kept the bordered solids uniformly placed because it just looked good to everyone who had input ;)
Then stitched them all together and yesterday made the quilt sandwich with muslin backing, warm n white batting and proceeded to wrestle between the quilt and the machine.

When I get the binding done, I'll post a finished photo or two but I don't think it'll be today because the skies are dark and the winds may get up to 45-60mph here in North Carolina and wev'e got some mighty big-mighty old pecan trees and oaks to watch out for.

Looking for something to do today?

Well I'm a bit too busy today - but I know it will be within the next day or so that I stop whatever it is I'm doing at the time and try it out because it looks so very fun - I though I'd share it incase someone out there is browsing the blogosphere looking for something new and interesting to do...
Just click the picture to go over to Untrendy Life and read the tute on bleach-stamping fabric - FUN!

Snap Pop breaks through the bleak Winter greys

So the holidays have passed and what a time to go through illnesses
and down time.  No crafting, barely any sewing or quilting to speak of
and plenty of bare trees, foggy days & nights with rain and ice...

Sometimes we don't always breeze through the seasons or holidays
the way we would like and it's nice when something comes along
to "snap" us out of the dolldrums... Snap Pop, just the ticket ;)

While browsing Etsy the other day I found a listing for a Moda layer cake -
never worked with one but of course always wanted to.
Evidently from what I've learned, this design set is not going to be available
until March but some wonderful fabric and quilt show sellers got their hands on some -

(I got MY picky paws on a stack from QuiltfabricsbyConnie)
And right now, she still has some charm packs, jelly rolls and maybe there's still a layer cake as well.
Last time I checked, she still had a fat quarter bundle of 37
for $95.00 so you DON'T have to wait for March ;)

I knew right away what I was going to do with it because I've had Samelia's Mum's blog page in my favorites for quite a while now and she has a pattern on there for a twin size quilt that is great for beginners.  I'm thinking it would be fun even for those of us who have completed more than a few quilts already and yesterday I cut my strips of calico in solid white and bordered the solids in the Snap Pop pile.

I'm ready to start piecing it all together but for a sinus issue.
The heat has dried the place out and I need to feel a bit better to really get into this quilt.

So head on over to Connie and get you some of this fabulous fabric!
I'll post more pictures as the quilt progresses.

It's Autumn! Here's my Autumn Treasury!

I sat for a bit yesterday morning enjoying coffee with the windows open and loving the smells and sounds outside telling me "hey Christine!  Autumn's here, go check the size of the pecans and the colors of the leaves!"  And I did... later on that is.

First, I wandered through the pages of Etsy to see what lovelies were out there in the world available for those of us Fall-lovers to feast our eyes and hearts upon and I came up with a new treasury ;)

Entitled "Autumn's colorful symphony"

Back To School Time

Whoa there!  Did I fall off the face of the bloggasphere for a while again or what?
Yes I did - and it has been a busy trip!

Since my last post I've finished some new projects and the kids are back in school.

That stash of fabrics in butterflies and blues from my last post at the end of July?
Well,
I added to it and finally made a blanket and later a dresser scarf/table runner to go with it.
Currently running on Etsy - I swear it is so pretty I've been tempted on more than one occasion to hoard it for my very own (selfish - selfish I know)

I did another blanket or two, including another baby blanket - rag quilt style -
with cupcakes on the back...  Also on Etsy =)

Some floral raggy tote bag/shoulder bags...
Both have outer pocket, inner large snap pockets and credit card pockets
and both have a simple snap to close.
I've been bouncing them back and forth between Etsy and eBay -
admittedly trying for a quicker sale to help with the school neccessities but no bites yet....
Does the blue one look like a diaper bag to you? (That's what one of my daughters told me)
Either way, I think it's cute and if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it for myself.  (maybe)

and some Fall table runners and a couple of Halloween totes

Sold the one on the top on eBay for the starting bid.
Not really worth the trouble or time & materials so I stopped at the second one here with the neon dots and witches.
I don't have it listed again yet.

Now,
the table runners mind you?
Were made from a quilt I started about 5 years ago and never got around to finishing stitching the rows together.  I figured it would be too small to be a good throw size so table runners are what they ended up being.
This one here with the 4 rows is up on Etsy and the one on the bottom with  3 rows & less
fluff sold on eBay already.

Today, I'm not really doing much of anything with all the running around that has been going
on for the first week of school  ((whew))
Soon I'll be sewing more Halloween things, Christmas blankets and gifts.
Hope your Autumn start is coming along nicely!
