Wednesday. 

Middle of the week, just finished my first pieced quilt and am waiting for my 505 spray to come in so that I can try my hand at stippling on something larger than a pot holder sized practice piece...
update:
The 505 spray came in and I won't ever try to quilt without it - ever!
Love this stuff.  It's true what they say about the spray holding every layer together like it was one 
single piece.  A definite must have when first learning to quilt.
So here is my finished baby blanket -also on Etsy.  (once again, the lighting is off)

While waiting, I set the quilt top, batting and backing aside and made another strippy table runner and this time I added a couple of mug rugs
(appearently these things are quite popular and I've not been sticking my head out of my rabbit hole enough to follow such things)
I used Lecien and Kaufman fabrics and listed them in my Etsy store as a set. (update: sold on eBay;)

Today I'll work on a strippy pillow with a twist.  Sometimes I get inspiration from something that has nothing to do with quilting or sewing in the least.  But other times I get inspired by something awesome that someone else had a notion to create before I ever happened along.  Either way, it keeps me at the sewing machine and computer - two places I love being :)

Do you have a favorite? 

I made a fabulous find at eBay about a week ago-
A dreamy cream cotton dotty fabric with lovely peach roses made by Yuwa...  I have since tried to hunt down more and have been dissapointingly unsuccessful in my quest.




I pondered what to do with it for only about a day or so and came up
with mixing it along with a blender so as to stretch my tiny treasured stash.
I made a lightly quilted, chunky rag-quilt shoulder bag with tall pockets and have added a tutorial for it HERE.

You know when you find some great fabrics that just go together so well and millions of possibilities flash before your eyes all at once?

I found a few of those fabrics recently and have been having some fun making pretty, full length aprons...





I got the turquoise floral and contrasting swirls fabrics from Walmart 
and the Mary Engelbreit fabrics online.
For the turquoise apron, I purchased some buttons that seemed to match pretty evenly, 
though not entirely sure what I would do with them or where I would place them on
the finished apron.
Then I found a super, step-by-step tutorial for making fabric flowers online at
Until Wednesday Calls (link further down) and decided on a button center for my fabric flower.

The flower on the apron made with M.E. fabric has a center that was made using a button making kit I'd had - I used the same method in the tutorial for making the flower and doubled it to contrast-

I decided to work with minky today...
Specifically - cuddle dots minky (well that's one name for it)
I have to admit I was initimidated because A. it stretches....and B. it stretches....
So yes. I was afraid of sewing with a stretch fabric, particularly because I was
using it in the making of yet another rag quilt (this time a 36"x36" baby quilt)
which I think came out Great!

I also used the hair clips instead of pins,
 all the way up to the point where I was stitching rows and then I switched to pins.

And here is the finished product :)

I listed it in my Etsy store...
I never get a photo of anything I make that looks as good as it does in person...
Anybody else have that feeling about pictures of things you make?
